ELEMENTS OF ENGLISH 24 (ENGL24)

Content:

This course covers reading a variety of texts and writing.
Assessments do cover the specific Reading and Writing Literacy requirement for University Entrance.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

ENGL 2.9 Form developed personal responses to independently read texts, supported by evidence (R) - 4 credits

NZQA External Assessment:

ENGL 2.2 Analyse specified aspect(s) of studied visual or oral text(s), supported by evidence (R) (W) - 4 credits

Prerequisites:

10 credits from ENGL11 and ENGL12

ENGLISH 31 (ENGL31)

Content:

This course covers writing, speaking, novel study and research work. Most of the course is assessed internally.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

AS 90720 (v2) Produce an extended piece of writing in a selected style - 4 credits
AS 90725 (v2) Construct and deliver an oral presentation - 4 credits
AS 90726 (v2) Complete independent research on a language or literature topic and present conclusions in writing 4 credits

NZQA External Assessment:

AS 90721 (v2) Respond critically to written text(s) studied - 3 credits

Prerequisites:

13 credits from ENGL21 and ENGL22

Stationery:

1 x12-8-2 Ringbinder, 1 x Set of Dividers, 1 x Refill


ENGLISH 32 (ENGL32)

Content:

This course covers reading and viewing of texts and being able to write about them under exam conditions. Part of this course involves revising prior to the NCEA examinations.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

AS 90720 (v2) Produce an extended piece of writing in a selected style - 4 credits

NZQA External Assessment:

AS 90722 (v2) Respond critically to Shakespearean drama studied - 3 credits
AS 90723 (v2) Respond critically to oral or visual text studied - 3 credits
AS 90724 (v2) Read and respond critically to unfamiliar prose and poetry texts - 3 credits

Prerequisites:

13 credits from ENGL21 and ENGL22
