| This course concentrates on wide personal reading, close reading and novel study, expressive writing, PAT testing, library use and grammar work. Public speaking and research work will also be covered in this semester. This semester is focussed on the importance of reading and establishing a reading culture among students. |

| This course covers personal and formal writing, producing a children’s book, film study and short story study, static image production and grammar work. Exam revision will take place at the end of the semester. This semester concentrates on writing, completing an NCEA internally assessed standard and preparing for an NCEA externally assessed standard. |
