RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 01 (RELG01)

Content:

This course covers the following topics:

• The Teachings of Jesus
• Inspiring Men & Women
• Preparing and leading a prayer liturgy

During this course students will write their own prayer liturgy and read it with the class. They will gain an understanding of the content and manner of Jesus’ teachings and the implications for his own time and today. There will be a focus on love (aroha) as the foundation of Jesus’ teaching. Part of the course will look at the significance of inspiring men and women in Scripture and in Church history and why we honour saints.

Nil

Pack of colouring pencils or felt pens, 1 glue stick, 1 pair of scissors, 1 x 1B8 exercise book


RELIGIOUS EDUCATION 02 (RELG02)

Content:

This course focuses on the significance of:
• Health issues facing teens
• Church History
Students will increase their awareness of health issues facing teenagers. In particular, the effects of alcohol, road safety and sexuality issues will be examined. The sexuality programme will involve a one-day retreat. This course is presented from an underlying Christian perspective. The course concludes with a history paper on the period known as The Reformation.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

AS 90817 (v1) Describe a significant aspect within the development of a religious tradition - 6 credits
