ART01 - DRAWING, PAINTING, PRINTMAKING (ARTC01)

Content:

This is an introductory course in which students will develop their understanding of how to use the visual art elements of line, shape, tone, colour, texture, size and direction.These elements will be explored in relationship to the art movements ofFuturism, Cubism, Expressionism through the media of drawing, painting and printmaking.

AS 90915 (v1)Use drawing conventions to develop work in more than one field - 6 credits

ART02 - DRAWING, PAINTING AND MURALS (ARTC02)

Content:

This is an introductory course in which students will develop their understanding of how to use the visual art principles of unity, contrast, harmony, repetition, balance, gradation and dominance.These ideas will be explored in drawing, painting and mural units.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

AS 90917 (V1)Produce a finished work that demonstrates skills appropriate to cultural conventions - 4 credits

DRAMA 01 - Devised Drama (DRAM01)

Content:

Students will develop the dramatic techniques of voice, expression, movement and gestures and use these in a variety of exercises.Students will call upon their own experiences and ideas to create their own stories through devised and impromptu performances.

DRAMA02 - Scripted Drama (DRAM02)

Content:

Students will learn about the conventions and elements of drama. Students will act in a teacher directed play, as well as devising and scripting their own performance.

AS 90006 (v4) Apply drama techniques in a dramatic context. (L) - 4 credits

Prerequisites:

Nil

Stationery:

MUSIC 01 (MUSC01)

Content:

Students will participate in group performances, practising aural (listening) and ensemble skills and studying selected artists and music. They will learn the fundamentals of composition, practising creative skills and learning compositional technology.

Prerequisites:

Minimum of 1 year’s music tuition from either a private or the school itinerant music tutor.

Co-requisite:

Weekly lesson with a music tutor.


MUSIC 02 (MUSC02)

Content:

Students will participate in solo performances, practising aural (listening) and communication skills, using performance skills and sound technology and studying selected artists and music.

Prerequisites:

Minimum of 1 year’s music tuition from either a private or the school itinerant music tutor.

Co-requisite:

Weekly lesson with a music tutor.
