CHAINSAWS - Term 3 Holiday

Content:

Three day course during Term 3 holidays. Learn to operate a chainsaw safely.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

US6916 Operate a chainsaw - 5 credits
US 6917 DKO the approved code of practice relating to chainsaw use - 5 credits

Prerequisites:

Must have had experience with chainsaws or other machinery and be 16 years of age.


ATV - Term 1 Holiday

Content:

Two day course during Term 1 holidays. Ride an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on flat terrain.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

US 24554 Ride an ATV on flat terrain - 4 credits
US 24557 DKO the safe operation of an ATV - 2 credits
US 24559 Ride an ATV on undulating Terrain - 6 credits

Prerequisites:

Student must be 16 years of age with at least a restricted drivers licence.


Barista - Term 2 Holiday

Content:

Five day course during Term 2 holidays. Students will learn basic knowledge of coffee and will be able to prepare and present coffee.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

US 17285 DKO commercial espresso coffee equipment and prepare beverages - 4 credits
US 17287 Prepare and present pressed coffee for service - 2 credits
US 17286 Prepare and present filtered coffee for service - 2 credits

Prerequisites:

Preference will be given to Year 12 and 13 students.


Food Safety - Term 3 Holiday

Content:

Four day course during Term 3 holidays. Students will learn health and safety practices in the preparation of food.

NZQA Internal Assessment:

US 20666 DKO contamination hazards and control methods used in food business - 2 credits
US 167 Practise food safety methods in a food business - 4 credits

Prerequisites:

Preference will be given to Year 12 and 13 students.
