PERSONALISING LEARNING

As a practical expression of our Campion College Charisms, we focus on personalising learning for all students.

Personalising learning means putting the student at the heart of the educational system.  It involves developing students as active partners in effective learning.

In personalising learning we emphasise:

  • Designing a curriculum to meet our students’ needs.  This has resulted in the formation of a Middle School for students in Years 7 to 9, and a Senior School for students in years 10 to 13.
  • Providing a pastoral care system that concentrates on the guidance and mentoring of students.  This has led to the development of Home Room Teachers, Learning Mentors and Vertical Form Teachers.
  • Developing a student voice in learning.  This has focused on providing leadership positions for students and a process for students’ views to be considered.
  • Enhancing classroom teaching practice.  This has resulted in developments in:
    • Assessment for learning
    • Learning to learn strategies
    • The introduction of new technologies
  • The reorganisation of the curriculum and utilisation of expertise in personnel. We have arranged our school day to facilitate senior students who are involved in off-site programmes. We have appointed staff to make the most effective use of the resources available.
