Shakespeare in Schools Festival

On 21st March the regional Shakespeare in Schools Festival was held at the War Memorial Theatre. For the third year running, Campion won the 5 minute student directed scene. The extract from The Tempest was directed by Bernie Stander and Nicaela-Jane King.

The judges all agreed that it was the standout student performance. Their comments included that it was a sophisticated presentation that was made visually stunning through the use of the stage tableau, costuming, set and dance, the acting was strong, with good connections made by characters, and changes in mood and tension were effectively created by the use of music throughout. They commented on the excellent connection between the two Ariels, Bernie and Nadia Stander, who also won a judges award for their interaction playing the same character.

The cast, which also includes Mason Rudd, Gael Barthelet, Olivia White, Tara Moore, Zoe Foreman, Mira Stankovich Te Ua, Niamh Lovelock and make up crew Vianne Nils Rawson, Rebekah Kara and Giovanna Vita, travel to Wellington for Queen's Birthday weekend to perform at the National Festival and to take part in Drama workshops and lectures.

Prayer

Dear God,
We pray for all the teenagers in the world, from the poor and hungry to the rich and spoilt. I pray that one day we will all be treated equally. I pray that bullying stops within and without our schools.
Amen.
