PASTORAL CARE
Pastoral care at Campion College means care for all students using the example of Christ the good shepherd as our model. Our Pastoral Care is an integral expression of our life as a Catholic College; it is our love expressed in a tangible and practical way.
Vertical Form Classes
At Campion College all students belong to a Vertical Form class. The Form Class has students from Year 7 to 13. As students progress through their years at school, they remain with this same Vertical Form. This helps them build relationships with students from every other year group and allows the younger students to be supported by senior students and involved more fully in the College as a whole.
Home Room Teacher
The Home Room Teacher is the prime pastoral teacher for students in the Middle School. The Home Room Teacher is the teacher who is with each of these students for the majority of the week. They provide support on a daily basis and guidance in the long term planning of each student’s learning needs.
Learning Mentors
Every student in Years 10 to 13 is placed with a Learning Mentor. Learning Mentors are specialised staff who help students map their career and learning aspirations. Recognising parents as the first educators of their children, the Learning Mentor meets in partnership with the parents and student to establish the student’s learning goals for the year. The Learning Mentor liaises with the subject teachers to ensure the Learning Plan is focused for all. The Learning Mentor updates the learning goals at least three times per year and it is possible that the student - Learning Mentor partnership will remain in place for up to four years. This programme helps provide focussed support for each student as they negotiate a curriculum pathway that is personalised to ward their learning needs.
House Groups
The College has four houses: Marcellin, MacKillop, Hato Maria and Gregory. All students belong to a House which has a vertical structure. The Houses help develop school spirit during the sporting and cultural events organised throughout the year.
